TechCrunch today has a great article on the unbelievably fast-growing market for iPhone Applications.
As far as I understand it, the iPhone operating system is pretty open for developers/programmers, who can code up any original application they want, similar to Facebook applications. Apple then sells the applications for you (or gives them away for free) via the iTunes Store.
What is really amazing is that, first, according to the article there have been over 800 MILLION downloads of iPhone apps so far, and second, that tons of developers are making a great business by programming these small mini-apps.
Who wants to learn the iPhone programming language with me?
Update: some similar coverage from the New York Times here. Apparently, I’m on a big iPhone news kick today. Kind of makes me wish I actually owned an iPhone… kind of.
